Wild Cat Beaten to Death and Set on Fire (Social Media)
A case of heinous animal cruelty has emerged from Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad, where a woman and her friends reportedly caught and incinerated a wild cat that had strayed in front of them. The gruesome incident was caught on camera, which surfaced online later, leading to fury and legal action.
The incident took place in the Bhojpur police station area, and authorities launched an investigation after receiving a complaint via email. Delhi’s Wildlife Crime Control Bureau was alerted about the video, which led to immediate intervention.
SP Dehat Kunwar Akash Singh asserted that a First Information Report (FIR) was registered regarding the case. "An FIR was filed, and since an inquiry is under progress, the video cannot be presented now," he said.
The accused recorded themselves while burning the wild cat alive, as per the FIR. Police officers tracked the bike used in the video based on the registration number, which made them arrive at a woman named Priya from Bhojpur.
They may be sentenced up to three years along with a fine of ₹1 lakh in case they are convicted.
This horrific act has evoked widespread outrage from animal welfare activists and wildlife groups. The authorities have promised stern action against those who perpetrated the inhuman act. The case is under investigation, and the authorities are trying their best to provide justice to the victim.
